ExxonMobil Chemical Launches PacVantage at Interpack 2005

HOUSTON - APRIL 20, 2005 - ExxonMobil Chemical today launched its new PacVantage® suite of secure internet-based technologies to serve customers in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) market.  At the ExxonMobil Chemical stand (B13) at Interpack 2005 - Hall 7, brand owners will see a demonstration of PacVantage technologies that help speed up time to market and increase the marketing impact of their packaged products.
The Films Business of ExxonMobil Chemical developed the PacVantage concept.  An internet-based suite of technologies that go beyond  the company's traditional film offer, PacVantage provides design, color management and planning tools to create real-time networks among players in the production, distribution and promotion of packaging for fast-moving consumer goods .
Faster to market
The network of PacVantage technology users will be uniquely positioned to bring products to market faster; a feat that would be impossible for one company alone.  For a totally new design, the time to reach the retailer’s shelf can be reduced from months to weeks.  An existing design can be available in days rather than weeks.
"PacVantage provides an internet-based work-flow process that links together the packaging material supplier, converter, designer and end-user.  The technology enables the supply chain to get new package designs to market quicker through design, planning and collaboration over the internet, and color management at every step in the design process", says Massimo Ferrari, director of new business for ExxonMobil Chemical Films Europe.

The PacVantage suite of collaboration tools will be demonstrated at Interpak 2005 with  HP technologies including HP Indigo Press WS4050, Color Managed Designjet 30/130 series of prrofers and a Bosch Terra 25 VFFS packaging machine.   Visitors to the ExxonMobil Chemical stand can see the complete workflow from design to packaged products and can take part in a demonstration of collaborative color and design management.

"PacVantage uses three powerful technologies to take the guesswork out of communicating color.  This means consistent color from computer monitor to right-first-time prints," says Joe Cardillo, PacVantage technology manager for ExxonMobil Chemical's Films Business.
The demonstration will  show how PacVantage can enhance the role of packaging in brand communication, providing a viable alternative to mass media advertising as a less costly and more efficient way of taking the brand message directly to the consumer.
Since packaged consumer goods are bought on impulse in more than 70percent of cases, attractive packaging and the ability to speed time to market can create new opportunities for  timely promotions.
